This is one of the [tag]catching drills for football[/tag] called the “NOOSE”. It helps the receiver get off press coverage, stick a good route and catch the [tag]football[/tag] in close proximity.

Start off with a line of receivers and a cone set up directly in front of them about 5 yards away. The first receiver will step out as a cb in press coverage. The QB is lined up 10 yds away facing them. On the QB’s cadence the WR will begin to fire his feet and hands in a rapid running motion.

Working the outside release have the WR break the elbow of the CB with his outside hand   while ripping and stepping thru with his inside hand and foot replacing the foot of the CB.The receiver proceeds toward the cone at 1/4 to 1/2 speed exaggerating good running form. When he gets to the cone have him sink his hips and really stick the plant foot in the ground turn the hips hands up and head around. Continue back to the start point and do the same thing sticking the opposite foot and finish in the middle where the QB will throw to either shoulder of the WR.

The time when the wide receiver is sticking the route the Qb can be saying his read progression out loud for a play determined by the coach.
