Coaching Football Special Teams – Pursuit Angles & Tackling
Are you coaching football special teams and looking for football drills? You’ve come to the right place! Try out this idea below and let me know how it goes for you.
Here is a football drill to use for Special Teams pursuit angles.
- Line up 2 sets of 5 cones about 25 yards apart and at 5 yard intervals going down the field. There will be 2 rows of cones 25 yards between them and 5 yards between each cone going down the field.
- Line up individual players at each cone.
- Take a runner with the ball at 10 yards past the last cone and put him in the middle.
- The runner will then run at full blast down the middle of the cones.
Each of the individuals at the cones must then converge on the runner and touch him at the correct angle of pursuit.
This football drill works wonders for angle of pursuit and tackling on Special Teams.
