I’m often asked for coaching football tips. Here are a couple of simple football drills that will pay huge dividends with your team.
From Edwin,
I am part of the Golden Eagles staff and our players get fired up for King of the Ring. You probably know it…it’s not new, but it really gets our football players focused and motivated either before or after practice.
It’s simple…two players inside a ring formed by the rest of the team.
The players bull rush each other until one player pushes the other outside the ring. The player is king of the ring until he is dethroned by another player and the game continues until every player has had a try inside the ring.
The player who amasses the most victories in the ring is declared the ultimate King of the Ring. He is rewarded with his name posted on the team website along with captainship for that given week.
From Joshua,
We run a great drill called “HOUSES“. We build three boxes of of cones–the box are 5 yards deep and about 1.5 yards across: (below is a diagram)

We line up a ball carrier about 10 yards deep. We tell them a house to go through…. (whispered). It’s the defender’s job to defend his “House”. If the ball carrier gets through to the back of the cones, it becomes his house.
