We do an outside contain drill where there is one punter and two gunners. These [tag]conditioning drills for football[/tag] allow your players to get to practice punting, returning, angle-taking, and containing all while getting some conditioning, too.
You punt the football to one return man. The thrust of the [tag]football drill[/tag] is to get the gunners to:
1. Get downfield quickly.
2. Force everything into the middle of the field where several teammates would be waiting to make the tackle in a game situation.
If the return man gets outside of the gunners and gets “the corner turned” up field, then the gunners lose and have to do 20 pushups.
If the gunners or “contain men” turn the returner back up field in between the hashes then the defenders win and the return man has 20 pushups.
It’s a fun [tag]football[/tag] drill that the boys love.
