Conditioning Drills for Football – Stance & sprint

Here is one of my favorite conditioning drills for football.  I use it as a “cool down” drill for the entire team. I like to do at the end of football practice.

STANCE & SPRINT
Every player should be able to get into a fundamental 3 point stance and be able to fire out of that stance.

We have the team line up on one sideline facing the opposite sideline.
Each football player must get into a proper 3 point stance and hold it until the whistle blows or on a particular snap count without jumping off sides.
Upon the whistle/snap count the players sprint until the whistle is blown at which time the players drop into stance again, holding it until the snap count/whistle.
This is repeated sideline to sideline as many times as you feel necessary.

We have found this football drill to promote focus, the fundamentals of stance, and mental toughness as this drill is done at the end of practice when most players are already feeling fatigued.
