Brian, one of my subscribers, came up with some great suggestions covering drills for youth football.  Keep ‘em coming!Drills for Youth Football

From Brian…
As a new head football coach this year I love this idea. I will be coaching my sons’ team who are in their last year of youth football. This will help me with good football drills for their practices.

We do a linebacker drill with three stand up bags, a linebacker and a running back. The running back takes the football form the coach as a handoff and runs parallell to the LOS. The linebacker tracks him and comes up to make the tackle as he clears the blockers (bags).

We emphasize technique in the linebackers lateral movement and his tackling. There are many other pieces that can be assessed and corrected with this football drill. This then leads to using live linemen and defensive linemen to help the defensive line with their read, react and tackle.
