Take a look at this submission from Ken, one of my subscribers. A great suggestion for football agility drills that can work with all age groups.
This is not rocket science by any means but we have found that footwork and agility is the key to any position player. One of my favorite football drills for this is the “Spin Drill”. Here we have two coaches with bags stand side by side and have the players line up single file in front of one of the football coaches and come up to the line and assume the three point stance. They fire off the line and into the first coach’s bag and then spin off into the next coach’s bag and then “Punch Through and Get Skinny”.
You need to have worked on the “Punch Through and Get Skinny” drill prior to this obviously. This should be done in rapid progression at a very fast pace for the sake of practice time as well as it is a good cardio exercise. A whistle blast approx. every 2 seconds seems to be good for us as it gets our boys through about 5 times in 5 minutes.
This football drill is beneficial to every one on the team, but especially defensive linemen learning to shed blocks and running backs who we make run through the drill carrying a football.
