Try this football coaching strategy with your team.  It is an idea for football practice that motivates the kids and allows you to  assess who is a leader and which players understand the plays you’ve been practicing.

At the end of a good practice, allow the kids to spend 10 minutes or so scrimmaging each other playing the positions they want and running their own plays.  iI is a reward for very good practices and it motivates them to have a good football practice.  It is also interesting to watch and see who the true leaders are at this time because there is no football coach interference. The natural leaders take charge and make sure everyone gets involved.

Ultimately you get to see some creativity in their play calling and evaluate who has a real understanding for the game while a fun time is had by all.
