Football Coaching Tips – Drills and Tips
If you’re searching for some fresh football coaching tips to use with your team, try these. I’ve included a couple of football drills and a motivational tip that can be used with all ages.

Linebacker Drill
Get six step overs and a pop up dummy. Have the player sprint and back peddle in and out of the step overs staying in a good low position with his head up. When the player reaches the last step over, he will sprint towards the pop up to perform an angle tackle. You can use a player with a shield if you do not have a pop up or cones in place of the step overs. You can also add a football on top of the pop up to simulate a fumble.
Offensive Line Drill
Set up 2 offensive lines against 2 defensive lineman with a running back. The offensive lineman and back are looking at the football coach. The coach will will pick which gap to run through–up the middle or outside. The offensive line will have to block accordingly. Confine the area to about 5 or so yards wide. It’s also a good workout for the D line in that they need to shed the blockers.
Motivational Tip
This is for the big guys on OL that hate to run or can’t too well. I tell these players ” You know I hate to run; the beautiful thing about football is all you have to do is run for five seconds (I pause and look at them and smile) and ask “can you run for five seconds?” They all say yes. Then they play each snap hard and stay on their guy.
