In amidst of all the running, tackling and blocking drills performed during [tag]football[/tag] practice, the training of the [tag]kicker[/tag] can often fall by the wayside.  However, since the kicker is a key player on any successful football team, he should also have a series of [tag]practice[/tag] [tag]drills[/tag].  These football kicking drills aim to improve your kicker’s accuracy and speed.Football Kicking Drills

The first of the [tag]football kicking drills[/tag] is a simple one that can be performed at every practice.  It involves setting up the kick from different spots that form a horseshoe formation around the goal posts.  You can use anywhere from 6 to 12 different spots, depending on where your kicker needs the most practice.

By constantly changing the [tag]kicking[/tag] spot, it will give your kicker the opportunity to practice lining up kicks from multiple angles all over the field.  Make sure each kicker only gets one chance at each spot.  This is meant to simulate the real game situation where only one chance is given.

The next of the football kicker drills simulates a kick during a game play situation.  For this [tag]drill[/tag] you will need a kicker, a center, and two kick blockers.  Once the center snaps the ball, the defenders rush the kicker who attempts to fire off a quick and precise kick before being reached by the defenders.  This drill also helps the center work on his ability to snap the ball accurately and correctly get to his block where he is to try and stop one of the rushers.
