Jim, one of my subscribers, sent this one to me last week.  A great example of football line drills that don’t require a coaching PhD to figure out.Football Line Drills

From Jim…
It’s a really basic football drill, but it’s quick and very effective. The kids get a lot of rep’s in a very short time. I use this as a warm up with the Offensive Backs once we’ve broken down.

RB/QB Perpetual Handoff Drill
Aim: to perfect the handoff between QB and RB

Split the players into two single lines (A & B) facing each other, about 7-8 yards apart. I usually put cones down in a line between them so they stay on their own side.  the first guy in the A & B line start running at each other, A with a ball, keeping on his own side of the cones.

“A” does a proper handoff to the guy from B. Then the next in A starts jogging towards the football carrier and HE receives a handoff. Then the next guy from B goes, and so on. Once you’ve handed the ball off you go to the end of the other line.

Once 10 or 15 without a drop, start them running on the other side of the cones for the opposite side handoff.

It can be slowed down or sped up to suit the ability of the players.

The football coach can be right there, checking for proper pockets and ball protection. Lot’s of reps, lots of perfecting.
