Football Lineman Drills – Offensive Lineman Drill

Coming up with fresh ideas for football lineman drills can be challenging. The idea behind this offensive lineman drill is to get the offensive linemen talking.

Line 5 boys on the offensive line and 1 boy as running back.

Line 4 boys on the defensive line & 1 Backer.

1. Call a quick huddle and give them a football play (no blocking assignments though)
2. Have the D-Line and linebacker move around after every play. Lineup inside and outside and stunt.

The idea behind this football drill is to get the offensive lineman talking. They know where the hole is supposed to be; now they have to rely on each other to figure out who they’re going to block. The center should be leading the charge and assigning who will block who.

This is a great fundamental football drill to help young lineman understand that its okay to talk and help one another; rather than missing your block and getting frustrated.
