Football Lineman Drills – Pursuit and Wrap Up

I find that the traditional ideas on football lineman drills can get a bit stale.  Here’s an idea for a football drill that has livened things up quite a bit in my practices.

Pursuit and Wrap Up
Equipment needed: cones, square linebacker bag with handlesFootball Lineman Drills

Cones set up like line of scrimmage, lines on each side at the center position about 5 yards apart on the football field.
Coach stands behind defense facing the offense
Football coach signals a hole number the offense player with bag held tightly heads to the desired hole, defense pursues about a step behind when the offense player turns in the hole the defense should be one step behind and meet at the line of scrimmage.
Good contact form full wrap up form drive feet through the ball (bag) carrier

This football drill make players learn to pursuit the correct way and most important to wrap up the ball carrier. As we all know, games after game has been lost from missed tackles.
