This is one of the [tag]football practice drills[/tag] that I borrowed from the coach who mentored me. We do this every practice and before every game as part of the warm up.   We call it the bag drill.

This drill is really quite simple but very effective.   You need 3 [tag]football[/tag]s and three bags.   Divide into three groups of equal sizes, ex. big men, average size and smaller players.   Player safety is paramount so keep the drill under control.

Three coaches are needed.   Begin by splitting all the groups in half, half on offense and half on defense.   One offensive player and one defensive player line up on the right hand side of the bag, in proper stance ready to either run forward through the defensive player or vice versa.

On the whistle they engage using straight ahead technique.   Continue for 5-10 sec. Change positions and got to the other line. Continue for 5-10 on each side.   Make sure to get assistants to work with all players on technique.
