Football Practice Drills – Linebacker Drill

This is one of the football practice drills I use for defensive backs and linebackers that works on multiple things at once.

I get the football players to huddle about twenty yards away from the football coach. The coach throws the football up and whoever catches it tries to make it to the line I am standing on. If they do they get water and to lie around and cheer for the other teammates. Most times they go back in.

This football drill allows us to work on the following:
1) Pass interference.
2) Hail Mary’s
3) Tackle after catch
4) Stripping after the catch
5) Interception return

The coach has the call on all interference penalties.
