Football Practice Drills – The Volleyball Drill

Don’t let the name of these football practice drills confuse you. We can all benefit from techniques of other sports and apply them to our own needs.

This football drill helps the players keep eye contact on the football as well as developing good hand eye coordination which helps both receivers and D-Backs stay focused on the ball with traffic around them.

We call this drill the Volleyball Drill--
Purpose:   Help defensive coverage personnel and offensive receiving personnel with hand eye coordination
Positions:  Linebackers, Defensive backs, Receivers and running backs

Description of drill:
Two players line up facing each other 3-5 yards apart.
One of the players has the football and uses a volleyball setting technique to hit the ball to the player facing them.
The two players shuffle sideways hitting the ball back in forth for 10-20 yards.

This drill also adds some fun to our football practice. To make it more difficult, put out bags for them to have to step over.
