This is a [tag]football drill[/tag] called Cadence Clap that we use to get the players listening to the quarterback give his cadence count and to learn to go on the second or third hut.   It is an essential part of [tag]football training[/tag] for all players.

Cadence Clap
In a tight huddle, the quarterback says on one or on two, or on three.   The quarterback then yells out the cadence and the entire team claps when the quarterback says his first or second or third hut (whatever was called in the huddle).

It is easy to tell if someone is early jumping the clap or late jumping the clap.   If we hear only “one” clap then everyone on the team was getting off the ball at the same time.

Teaching points:
1. Listen to the quarterback for the count in a huddle.
2. Being able to go on the second or third hut is key to keeping the [tag]football[/tag] defense from guessing the count.
3. Give a new/young [tag]quarterback[/tag] confidence to be a leader in a huddle.
