Football Warm Up Drills – Shoulder Blasts

To get practice started & players awake & aggressive, try these football warm up drills.

As part of warm-ups we do shoulder blasts. Have four lines. Each set of 2 lines should be 2 yards apart and designate a player (defensive) to face them 3 yards away.  The football coach stands behind the defensive player, tells players to chop feet and points to a line.  Player from that line attacks the defensive player with the shoulder & the defender reacts and attacks the oncoming player. Great to wake them up and get them aggressive.

This football drill is one I have incorporated in practice; it is a defensive football drill in which I have my whole defense line in as if they were going to face a offense.

I then place a quarterback and running back alone on the other side of the ball. Then have the quarterback pitch the football to the back toss left or right then I have the whole defense butt role and pursue the back up the sideline.  This teaches the kids not only angle pursuit but they get their cardio in and it pushes them to run hard.

I like one because its something different then sprints and the players can get into it.
