Randy in Worcester emailed me looking for [tag]football[/tag] [tag]drills[/tag] and tips for [tag]coaching[/tag] [tag]football youth[/tag] teams. Here are two drills sent in by Anthony and by Yohann. Try these with your teams.
From Anthony”¦
Lay your team face down helmets on a line with slight room between each player.
Start at one end have first kid get up and run over the smalls of the legs of each teammate. Each kid thereafter gets up when passed and does the same thing.
We do the whole [tag]team[/tag]; we mix in double leg hops ,double taps, high knees it is a excellent [tag]conditioning[/tag] tool and the kids like it because they get to rest until there up again. We call it the caterpillar. Simple but effective!
From Yohann”¦
I coach a [tag]Pop Warner[/tag] team ages 10-13. In the past I’ve coached a much younger group, getting to hit was a little difficult at times. This is what I did.
Two lines about 5 yds apart facing forward. The first 2 players out front. They must shuffle their feet for 5 yds one with the ball . When they pass the cone its crunch time.
