I call this the No Quit Drill. I set it up as a 2 on 1 drill. This is not intended to be a blocking technique drill, but rather a “do whatever you need to do to get to the person with the ball drill”. It is one of those free football drills that is worth adding to your practices.
2 offensive blockers, 1 D lineman. I use everyone on the team, all positions, not just the linemen.
Place a tall tackling dummy about 7-8 yards behind the 2 offensive line blockers.
Say “hut” and the defensive person has to get to the bag any way he can. Go thru them, around them, punch them, swim/rip anything to get to the bag.
There is no time limit.
The drill is over when the defensive person touches the bag.
Sometimes if there is a big mismatch then the coach blows the whistle to say next. Sometimes a coach needs to hold the bag upright because it falls down easily and the coach can actually see if the D person touches the bag.
Good workout too!
