I’ve gotten a whole bunch of requests for free football training drills over the past few days.  Here are two ideas that my subscribers have sent in.  Keep ‘em coming!Free Football Training Drills

From Daniel…
The football drill that I use, is Shake the Blocker drill. Take one defensive man put him in the middle of two cones. Have your blockers start about 7yds back, run up and throw a block. I’ll try to have 5-7 players on this drill.

During the drill, I look for: Break down position, good shedding technique, quick feet, the last man in line has the ball, so once the last man is on his way, I tell my players to focus on his waist, and try to bite the football! And of course the last thing, is good fundamental tackling.

From Craig…
I’ve been an assistant coach now for about 4 years, and loving it. This coming year I’m stepping up to head football coach. But last season we had a problem with the ball getting stripped out of the hands of our backs.

I came with a little football drill that seemed to help. First I had 2 kids face each other about a yard apart and 3 yards from line of scrimmage, then another set of kids right beside them. Then I had the quarterback receive the ball from the center and hand the ball to the back. He then runs thru the set of kids (while protecting the ball)as they try to slap and punch the ball out of their hands.

It worked great!
