Linebacker Football Drills – The T Drill

Linebacker Football DrillsIf you’re searching for linebacker football drills give this one a try.  I like this particular linebacker football drill because it addresses several areas of linebacker play.  We call it the T Drill.

Place cones 2-3 yards apart and align them into the form of a T.  Have player in a good linebacker stance at the base of the T.  On hut, whistle, or ball snap, sprint into the T.  Coach points left or right.  Player breaks down into good tackling position and shuffles feet to the side of the T pointed to.  Once at the end of the T, the football coach points in other direction and player plants and shuffles to the other end of the T.  At the other end, coach points the other way and player plants and shuffles to middle of T.  Once back at the middle coach points backward ( or shows pass ) and player back pedals to start of T.   Coach tosses the football in any direction and player intercepts pass and sprints through the coach.

Good conditioning, excellent for teaching them to break down prior to tackle, shuffle feet through traffic with head up and butt down, eyes on ball and interception .

Kids love it and it addresses several areas of linebacker play.
