Coming up with new ideas for [tag]offensive football drills[/tag] can sometimes be a challenge. Here’s a tip that Ed, one of my subscribers, sent to me that works well. Give it a try!
From Ed”¦
Here is my favorite [tag]football drill[/tag] for Offensive/Defensive Lineman to get them off the ball low and quick and downfield (or up field)..
I have two [tag]football[/tag] players (of equal caliber/age) lined up 2-3 feet apart on the line of scrimmage. I place an object (cones, board) just in front of their hand (on the ground) in a three point stance. 5 Yards down field I place a baseball Tee with a tennis ball on it.
On the whistle/hut they come out of their stance and have to make their initial step over the cones or board and then race to get the tennis ball.
2 Points for the player gets to the ball and grabs it off the tee cleanly. 1 point if he touches it first and drops it. 1 point for the other player if he knocks it out of the first guys hand.
The point system can be varied to whatever suits the [tag]football coach[/tag]. I usually give out a prize after practice for the winners.
The players asked to do it almost every football practice.
