Coming up with new ideas for football drills for pass protections in football can sometimes be a challenge.  Here’s a tip that Tony sent to me that works well.Pass Protections in Football

From Tony…
I do a pass protection football drill called Push-Pull Drill.

2 players fit up. The one on offense puts his hand on the inside and gets into a pass pro stance.  The one on defense fits up with his hands on the outside.

The player on offense closes his eyes and he is to react whether he is pushed or pulled.  The football coach will say “Go” and the offensive player starts patting his feet, and when the defensive player pulls him the offensive player sinks his hips and works toward the defensive player.  The offensive player does not want to bring his shoulders forward.  When the defensive player pushes the offensive player he will drop a power foot to stop the bull rush and drive block back into the defensive until he has the bull rush under control.

This football drill teaches a pass protector to keeps his shoulder pads on top of his hips and not get over extended in his pass protection posture.
