Quarterback Drills – Passing Drill & Pocket Drill
These two quarterback drills are quick, easy and best of all produce immediate improvements with your football team.
I’ve found that using this football drill on quarterbacks who look at the receiver instead of where to throw works wonders.
- Line up 3 or 4 receivers on one side at a time.
- Put a cone out about 15yrds where the receiver makes his cut whether for a post or a flag pattern. Next line up more cones on an angle approx 10 to 15 yrds apart.
- The quarterback throws the football at the cone and NOT the receiver until he makes a perfect timing throw.
He does this per cone, per route. Eventually, it doesn’t matter what route he’s throwing to, he’ll land it perfect everytime. This football drill works for the semi-pro and it will certainly work for every level below.
Another quarterback football drill that I have found quintessential to helping develop quarterback confidence in the pocket goes like this. Using stand-up bags as the quarterback drops back, toss three or four of them at him to get him used to pressure in the pocket. This football drill will help Qb’s gain confidence and remain calm when the pocket breaks down.
