Running Back Football Drills – The Gauntlet

Many coaches struggle to come up with running back football drills.  Here is one drill that has worked for me in the past.  This is a football drill that to use whenever fumbling problems begin to plague you.Running Back Football Drills

The Gauntlet
Have players line up in two lines facing each other with a few feet between them.

Have all ball handlers line up in the gap between the lines.  As the player takes a handoff and runs between the two lines each player in line tries to strip the ball loose.

This is an oldie but has helped with teams I have been associated with.  It teaches receivers the fundamentals of catching the football and tucking it in before contact.

Position players in two parallel lines facing each other approximately two yards apart. The first receiver stands at one end approximately five yards away. On cadence, the receiver runs towards the gauntlet, receives the pass, tucks the in and runs through the gauntlet.

Instruct players on both sides to try and rip the ball loose.
