special teams football drill
Line up 5 players on 40 yard line about 7 yards apart (including a kicker in the middle). 2 return players.
Kick off to return players with all but kicker sprinting down field. Kids stay in lanes to make tackle. Rotate return players in 3 groups of 2. Have 4 lines of players for kickoffs and rotate 4 each time.
Kids are learning to stay in lanes, open field tackle, and getting a workout each time they sprint down field. The kids really like this football drill and look forward to it once a week.

What I like to do is the rip and swim drill.
I line my 12, 13year old kids up in a o/d lines then I put tennis balls in the gaps. When they rip and swim they learn to step with the correct foot, as they pick up the ball. They’re low then they rip or swim out. I work with lineman about 10 to 15 minutes on this football drill.
