Take a look at this submission from Ray in Palm Springs. A great example of a [tag]youth football defense[/tag] drill that can work with all age groups.
From Dave”¦
Similar to the Bull in the Ring. The entire [tag]football[/tag] team circles up with a [tag]football coach[/tag] in the middle to pick the contestants.
We choose a ball carrier, a blocker and a tackler. Ball carrier jukes and moves behind his blocker whose job it is to keep the tackler from reaching the ball carrier. No blocking in the back, until the ball carrier is tackled.
We will go a few times with different players. Then add another blocker and tackler so that we have two blockers and two tacklers chasing the ball carrier. We have gone with three blockers against three tacklers but I have found two works best.
One of our teams favorite [tag]football drills[/tag] usually done toward the end of practice before cool downs.
