From Lee…
Here is my favorite [tag]football drill[/tag] for Offensive/Defensive Lineman to get them off the ball low, quick and downfield (or up field).

I have two [tag]football[/tag] players (of equal caliber/age) lined up 2-3 feet apart on the line of scrimmage.   I have 2 football coaches on either side hold a PVC pipe directly above their heads while they are in a three point stance. I then have a cone set up 10 yards down/up field and I place a tennis ball on it. On the whistle they come out of their stance and have to make their initial step forward instead of standing up then race to get the tennis ball.

If a players helmet hits the pipe he is disqualified and goes to the back of the line to try again. 2 Points for the player who gets to the ball and grabs it off the tee cleanly. 1 point if he touches it first and drops it. 1 point for the other player if he knocks it out of the first guys hand.

The point system can be varied to whatever suits the [tag]football coach[/tag].   The kids love this drill and it teaches a strong burst low into the offensive or defensive player.
