Last week, I sent out a request for my newsletter subscribers to send in their favorite youth football team drills. Check out this one below (very creative!).Youth Football Team

From Jeff…
Here is a great football drill for kids of all ages to get some sprinting in without the kids even realizing how far they are sprinting!

Equipment needed: 4 Footballs, 4 Cones

I divide my team into four equal teams then I number each team off.
1. I place the cones on the hash marks and set them about 40 yards apart.
2. I line the teams up so that team (A) is by one cone and Team (B) is against them. Same thing for (C) and (D)!
3. On the Whistle one player from Team (A) runs clockwise to the cone in front of team (B) while one player from Team (B) runs clockwise to the cone of team (A). Players have to go around the cone before returning to their team. IF they do not catch the opposing player for the other team and return back to their cone they hand off to the next player in Line who takes off trying to catch the other player. Just have to tag the other player to win the game.
4. I switch teams that challenge each other and I switch distances they run.

The kids love the game trying to tag the opponent and I have never once said to them that they are running 40’s, 60’s, 80’s full speed and never once realize what they are doing and never once complain about sprints!

Team A will go to your left while Team B will go to your right and they have to go down and around the cone before they can return to their team. No passing the ball to the next player in line and no one can Drop the ball.

Then you can add rules, change anything you want to make the game more challenging for your teams.
