Many [tag]coaches[/tag] struggle with ways to motivate their [tag]youth football teams[/tag]. Here is one suggestion from Tom that works well for his [tag]team[/tag]. Give it a try!
From Tom”¦
Don’t lose the CAKE
This is a family tradition that I have tried to continue wherever I go.
My father was a head [tag]football[/tag] [tag]coach[/tag] and he or my mom decided to make a victory cake for home games. If we won the home game our team got to enjoy the fruits of their labor and eat the cake. If we lost the home game we would have to give the [tag]victory[/tag] cake to the [tag]opponents[/tag] and they enjoyed it.
Well, as you can imagine that developed into a huge [tag]pride[/tag] issue for our teams and the reputation it developed with other teams knowing that if they beat Raymond High School at home they got to eat cake. The winning pride our teams developed enabled us to win league championships for ten years straight, five state [tag]championship[/tag] teams and a three year winning steak of 46-0.
I can’t guarantee those same results but I can guarantee your teams will develop a greater sense of pride that might get them through the tough games.
