In today’s video blog post, I am talking about a few footwork drills that utilize the pop-up dummy. But these aren’t just any footwork drills – they focus on working the edges of the blocker as well as quickness and speed. Your players will definitely respond to this one!
Footwork Drills using the Pop Up Dummy
One of the primary focuses of pass rushing is to get on the edge of the blocker and work your way around him. You should teach your players that they cannot run into the blocker head on and they cannot block themselves. But they do want to try to work the edges in everything that they do.
To get around an offensive blocker, you’ve got to get your shoulder pads and your hips turned. The 3 footwork drills featured in today’s video are an excellent way to work this aspect of getting your body turned while working on quick footwork.
