Drill Type:   Agility


This agility drill focuses on lateral change of direction shuffle.


Set up a series of cones in two straight rows about 5 feet apart, and your players will begin at one end of the cones.   You can set up any number of cones you prefer, based on your player level.


  1. Players will weave in and out of the cones, beginning by moving around the outside of the first left cone, followed by the second right cone.
  2. Alternate between cones until you reach the end of the cones.
  3. When you reach the end of the cones, you are going to burst five yards.

Coaching Tips

You want your players to get in the habit of bursting to the football.   You can include a burst at the end of all your practice drills to stress this!
