Here are a couple of ideas for [tag]football practice drills[/tag] to use with your teams.   One helps to take the boredom out of regular [tag]football drills[/tag] and the other is crucial for keeping the whole team fresh on their skills.

I coach both offensive and defensive lineman. It seemed to me they were getting bored with the same old drills and not doing a great job of getting our of their stance with a low, flat back. So, I used the running back’s coach’s belt and my lineman competed in “tractor pulls”. The rope attaches around the waists of two lineman. They pull the rope tight enough to take out all the slack. On my whistle both lineman, out of a four point stance, try to pull the other in the opposite direction. It teaches players that the low man wins, to get off the [tag]football[/tag] quickly, and they enjoy competing with one another.

We run 2-3 huddles at every [tag]football practice[/tag] (Offense/Defense).   That way we focus on the guys who are our backups as well. God forbid something should happen to our studs.   I’ve seen plenty of football games lost because the backup guy didn’t know their responsibilities/assignments/plays etc.   We make sure that we focus on the second and third teams and not only focus on the 1st team.   This has helped us out when we needed it the most.
