Eddie, one of my subscribers, came up with this great suggestion for football practice drills.  Keep ‘em coming!
From Eddie…
Football Practice DrillsThere is a football drill that I use that seems to work for me. I call it “Lock and Load“.

It is to get the lineman in a perfect blocking position. (The neat thing about this football drill is that every offensive player that blocks can use this football lineman drill.)
1. The football coach will divide the players into two equal lines if possible; one offense and one defense.
2. The coach will tell the offensive players to lock and load in between the defensive players numbers or (Aiming Point).
3. *Coaching Point- I like to use aiming points as reference points to aim for on the block. It is like aiming for the bull’s eye on a target.
4. The coach will check to make sure the offensive player is in the perfect blocking position; that is head up, eyes focused on aiming point, bent knees, flat back, hands up inside of shoulder pads, butt up.
5. The coach will call a cadence. The players will start to drive block(walk not full speed to start off with). Remember coaches you are teaching at this point of the drill.
6. As the players are drive blocking make sure they stay in the perfect blocking position and make adjustments as you go.
7. You start out walking and progress to full speed.
8. Drive for about ten yards for three or four times and switch sides.
