Football Running Back Drills – The V Drill
Coming up with new ideas for football running back drills can sometimes be a challenge. Here’s a tip that has worked well for me in the past.
From Charlie…
One of the best football drills we do is a drill called the “V” drill.
You line up 5 cones on each side starting at about 2 yards apart from each other, then each cone gets wider and wider apart so it forms a “V”.
You split your football team into two teams evenly matched and then you line up an offensive lineman at the narrow part of the “V” with a running back a couple of yards behind him from one team and the other team lines up a defensive linemen against the offensive lineman and a linebacker a couple of yards behind him.
The object of the football drill is for the running back to try to get past both defensive players and beyond the last cone. He will score a point for his team if he succeeds. All players should have a chance to run the ball and block. Once everyone has had a chance the teams switch sides and now they other team gets to try to score.
The team with the most points in the end wins and the other tram has to do 20 pushups.
