I’ve gotten a whole bunch of requests for free youth football coaching drills over the past few weeks. Here’s an idea that Thomas in Canada sent in.
From Thomas…
I am the head football coach with the Alberta, Canada, Peewee (11-12) and Atom (8-10) football program.
As for a daily football practice drill (try this):
At each practice, right after warm up, the team splits into three groups.
Three stations are set up:
1. Lineman Hamburger hill (wide stance/ take off/ sprint)
2. Bag block
3. Bag tackle
Allow 5 min. per station, rotate kids in groups of 10-12, made as a nightly routine, variations only in the station [tag]football drill[/tag] type.
TOTAL TIME: 20 min.
As the football season progresses, all players progress in what is considered the 3 most important physical aspects of the game.
Time well spent.
