I’ve received a whole bunch of requests for spring [tag]youth football coaching[/tag] drills over the past few days. Here’s one idea that one of my subscribers sent in.
We have started [tag]football practice[/tag] two weeks ago for spring ball with our youth leagues. Here is a [tag]football drill[/tag] that is an “old” favorite of mine.
Quarterback drill – we set up five dummies that represent the spacing of an offensive line. We have the QB’s take their drop behind the dummies, then simulate a rush with one of four defenders from either a LB or DT position. As he steps up in one of the “unprotected” rush lanes, the qb throws the [tag]football[/tag]. With touch, as he is stepping up to one of the garbage cans we have set up downfield–his pass is successful if he throws the ball inside of one of the cans, or at least touching the rim of the cans.
We run a wing-t offense – and we have included a waggle drill from this set as well – having the qb throw the ball as he is coming out of his fake to the halfback and running to the flank with the ball.
