Purpose: 

To work on and refine a players get off the line and pass rush moves.

Setup: 

Players will form 3 lines, one in front of each bag.

Instructions:

  1. Drill will begin with the coach snapping the ball.
  2. The players will explode forward and slap and rip to get past the dummy.
  3. Next group steps up and repeats.
  4. After all groups have done the rip to the right, have them go back through the drill working on a rip to the left.

  • Encourage proper stance and alignment at the line of scrimmage to maximize their explosive start.

Tips for Older Athletes: 

  • Work on timing the snap count to achieve a quicker and more explosive get-off.
  • Practice combining different pass rush moves, such as a swim or spin move, to develop versatility.
  • Reinforce the importance of using leverage and body positioning to gain an advantage over the offensive lineman.
