This is more of a practice strategy I use often.   During all the years coaching football, I have found it is good to mix things up to keep the players on their toes.

Players tend to pace themselves as football practice progresses in anticipation of conditioning at the end.   We will “shuffle” our stations as a means of taking the monotony out of our daily schedule.   After stretching, we may condition in our initial period and then continue with practice.

Players know that, depending on their hustle, conditioning may be revisited. We may jump in to a 5 minute “goal line” period in the middle of our offensive segment of practice.   We may go in to a “sudden change” situation at any time.

You get the idea.   Football revolves around players having a “sense of urgency” on Friday nights.   We incorporate this concept every day as we plan in our approach to practice.   It reduces our inability to react to a myriad of surprises on game night.
