I’ve gotten a whole bunch of requests for [tag]football practice drills[/tag] over the past few days. Here’s an idea that one of my subscribers sent sent to me.
Kids love the Hit the Bag Drill:
5 lines 3 yards apart. The first group of five walk five yards and turns around to face the lines they just left. On command they start chopping feet. On command, they do an up-down. Meanwhile, four [tag]football coach[/tag]es behind them that they don’t see, are strategically moving a tackle dummy/bag into a variety of positions–short/long/close together/spread apart, etc.
On the third up-down, the player turns and locates a bag and makes a tackle. Since there are five [tag]football[/tag] players and only four bags, the player that does not make it to a bag in time, and their line, must complete three up downs. Coaches strategic positioning of the bags assists to ensure that each line gets their equal share of up-downs.
This [tag]football drill[/tag] teaches speed, strength, location and teamwork.
