Special thanks to Maurice and to Steve for sending these [tag]football[/tag] [tag]drills[/tag] to me.   If you’ve looking for some fresh ideas try these [tag]free conditioning football drills[/tag]!ree Conditioning Football Drills

From Maurice – Tennis Balls
I coach youngsters in Pop-Warner and one of the things I rely on a lot is a tennis ball.

Especially for the [tag]running backs[/tag]. I make them practice with it tucked between their bicep and forearm. It teaches them the proper way to hold the football. As you know they have a tendency to run with it out to their side and not tight against their ribcage.

You can also use it for [tag]line drills[/tag]–where they fire out to catch a dropping ball.   [tag]Wide receivers[/tag] too -I make them catch tennis balls sometimes to increase their hand eye coordination.

From Steve – The Rabbit
I coach an 89er team and found a fun game to play at the end of practice “The Rabbit”.

I will choose a kid who has had a good [tag]practice[/tag] to be the rabbit.   I will the have the rabbit get 5 to 8 yards ahead of the line depending on that kid’s speed. I then choose a cadence to have eveybody take off on. If someone jumps the rabbit sound off 10 pushups for everyone to do. If 1 kid catches the rabbit before the end of sprint (40 yds) they get to be the rabbit.

The kids love it and don’t really know that they are [tag]conditioning[/tag] themselves!
