If you’re a youth football coach (7-8 year olds) you may be having a tough time teaching the young guys to be aggressive, especially on the line. Try this drill at your next youth football practice and you will teach them that aggressive play will be rewarded with results.

You will need 5 playground balls (small and medium size). Basically full-go Dodgeball.
Split the team into 2 and line them up at either end of a pre-determined rectangle (Smaller “fields” forces them to be more active and aggressive). They have to sprint to the center to get the balls to start at risk of the other team beating them and getting hit.

The beauty of this football drill is that not only did it teach that the more aggressive players ended up winning, but it also showed the kids that it was much more effective to work as a team and strategize (throw 3 balls at once, cover your teammate, etc).

The other cool part of this is that we did it in full football uniform and helmet so it eliminated the fear of taking one in the face and showed the kids to trust their protective equipment more.

Your kids will have a blast and it will “click” for the players to deliver the aggression rather than receive it.
