Dale emailed me and sent in one of his favorite plans for [tag]a football practice[/tag]. Here it is so that you can benefit from it as well!
From Dale”¦
Over the years one of the most fun and hardest hitting [tag]football[/tag] [tag]practices[/tag] is our ” In Your Shoes ” [tag]scrimmage[/tag].
We divide into two teams picked by the [tag]coach[/tag] or by two captains.
A Coach either helps make up [tag]plays[/tag] or QB’s the team depending on ability and age.
[tag]Backfield[/tag] players have to play the line and [tag]linemen[/tag] get to be Offensive and Defensive Backs.
No player plays his normal position.
Coaching Points:
1. This is for fun , however play fundamentally smart at all times.
2. Learn to respect each others positions.
3. Get a better idea of the entire game of football.
The idea came from a statement Lou Holtz made talking about big kids being offensive linemen all their life, coming to college at Arkansas and never having had the opportunity to [tag]run[/tag] the ball, [tag]intercept[/tag] a pass or score a [tag]touchdown[/tag].
This is usually a reward for hard work or for a time when we just need to lighten up and have some fun.
