One of the all time favorite [tag]football conditioning drills[/tag] is the Wheel Barrow Drill. Using this with your youth [tag]football[/tag] teams builds strength as well as team spirit and motivation.
Since kids are so competitive and [tag]football practice[/tag] can be boring I like to have a relay, especially during conditioning training, so the kids don’t think of it as a [tag]football drill[/tag].
You pair up the team evenly and one player gets on the ground in a kneeling position. The second player picks up the feet of the player kneeling and the kneeling player extends his arms upward like in a pushup position. Mark off about 10-15 yards with a cone. Get two, three or four groups, depending on the number of players, across from each other.
As the whistle blows the players try to cross the line across from them and the players across from them cannot go until that line has been crossed. This builds tremendous strength and coordination and the kids have fun.
