Mike sent in these   great suggestions for [tag]football tips and drills[/tag]. Try these creative tips to reduce your team’s offsides and penalty calls.   Keep ”˜em coming!Football Tips and Drills

The best [tag]football coaching[/tag] tip I would like to share with you is game specific in nature.   Basically, NO [tag]football drill[/tag] starts with a “whistle”.

(1). All offensive [tag]football drills[/tag], sprints, etc begin with a cadence.   We also try to vary the count and if someone jumps (especially in sprints) we send everyone back five yards.

(2). All defensive [tag]football[/tag] drills begin with ball movement.   We shout out offensive colors and numbers with the intent to draw defenders offsides (again with five yard penalties assessed, when appropriate).   We use a football taped to a broom handle to help simulate ball movement.

(3). Finally, we end drills with a “whistle”, just like in a game.

The objective is to keep everyone going 100% UNTIL the whistle.   As a result, our offsides and illegal procedure penalties have been greatly reduced.
