This is just one of my favorite [tag]pre-season drills for football[/tag]. It is called Going to the Fair.

  • Line all of your [tag]football[/tag] players up on the goal line and start counting off each player giving them a number 1 through 5.
  • Set up 4 cones in a box 30 yards square.
  • Group 1 and 5 start at the first corner, group 2 the second, group 3 the third, and group 4 the fourth.
  • On the whistle, group one sprints to the first cone and does 5 pushups.
  • As soon as all the members of group 1 hit the first cone, group 2 takes off.
  • When they reach the second cone they do 5 sit ups.
  • Station 3 is jumping jacks and station 4 (the starting line) is 5 up downs.

You can get your whole team doing conditioning at once; you can watch them all to see who is dogging it, and get them to work together as a group.

I like to do this especially at the beginning of the football season, as this [tag]football drill[/tag] tends to get them winded pretty fast. 5 or 10 minutes of this at the end of practice really does the trick.
