Purpose:
This drill is designed to help quarterbacks improve their accuracy and release time.
Setup:
Two players start out standing five yards apart and then move to 10 yards apart after six to eight reps. The coach should be nearby to call commands.
Execution:
- The quarterback with the ball gets in “profile” position, which means knees are bent, the lead shoulder is pointed toward the target and feet are moving.
- Receiver flashes a hand.
- Immediately upon seeing the flash of the hand, the quarterback throws the ball toward the hand.
- Perform six to eight repetitions.
Coaching Tips:
- Again, pay close attention to grip and form during this exercise. Keeping balanced and properly shifting weight will help the quarterback improve accuracy.
