This is one of the football practice drills that I have used to add some fun to receiver breakout practice.
Receiver Drill
- I line the receivers up in one to two lines staggered though in case of two rows.
- I then have the receivers turn their back to me.
- On my command “now” all the receivers turn at once.
In the mean time I have chosen a receiver to throw a football at.
If the receiver drops the pass he goes down in push up position and completes 5 push-ups for every completed pass to the remaining receivers.
For some receivers it gets very difficult to get through the drill with their push ups. Once we end up with a lone receiver we start over.
I will increase the difficulty for the better receivers when throwing the ball to try and even things up at times.
Our motto always is: If the ball touches the hand it should be caught!
