During the above video, you’re going to learn about a youth football drill called the read step drill.

During the read step drill, we’ll get lines of three linebackers.

Oftentimes with this youth football drill, coaches will tell their players to take one step and square up, and then rotate so that the second line goes to the front, the third line goes to the second line, and the first line goes to the back.

I believe that the drill should be done with everyone in unison, all at one time. When the coach says “hit,” all of the players take their read step forward, and that’s all that we’re working on for this youth football drill.

The reason why we teach the read step drill is that it will assist players in taking false steps.
